Stanly Timberwolves AAU program sends athletes to Junior Olympic nationals

Members of the Stanly County Timberwolves AAU track and field team recently qualified to compete at nationals in their respective events.
The athletes, from ages 6-12, will compete July 31-Aug. 7 at the AAU Junior Olympics Track and Field Games in Humble, Texas.
Coaches for the Timberwolves are Quasar Knox for the boys’ squad and Shay Covington for the girls’ team.
Here are the athletes, events and their respective times or distances which qualified them for nationals:
Blake Baldwin (1,500-meter run – 6:04.69).
Jackson Shaver (200-meter dash – 31.40 seconds; 400 meter-run 1:12.01; 1,500-meter run 6:01.42).
Ayden Watson (400-meter run 1:18.56)
Malakhi Blackmon (100-meter dash 13.50 seconds;  200-meter dash 28.00 seconds; 400-meter run 1:06.52).
Ace Potts (100-meter dash 16.92 seconds).
Monquale Smith (200-meter dash 35.06 sec.; 400-meter run 1:21.93).
Jayden Arey (800-meter run 3:18.67; 1,500-meter run 6:41.49).
Tatum Smith (800-meter run 3:03.79; 1,500-meter run 6:13.45).
Kennedy Ross (long jump 5-foot-1; shotput 9-foot-2.5).
Daiya McAuley (100-meter dash 16.43 sec.; 200-meter dash 34.05 seconds; 400-meter dash 1:20.92).
Josie Crowell (1,500-meter run 6:39.02).
Emma Arey (800-meter run 3:17.72); 1,500-meter run 6:41.13).
Rikyiah Polk (long jump 7-foot-5).
