Morrow
The new family camping area in Morrow Mountain State Park had opened last week and on Saturday night was completely filled and all except three campsites were also filled, according to Superintendent Cedric Squires.
“With the weather as cool as it was I had no idea we’d be almost full,” he said.
There were campers in the park from 20 states.
Civitans
The Albemarle Civitan Club would have its annual Ladies Night and Installation Banquet June 14 at Wiscassett Memorial YMCA.
New officers would be installed by Rev. Milton Faust, governor, North Carolina Civitan West. He would install Rev Karl Park, president; Max Bogle, president-elect; Raymond Talbert, vice president; Johnson Miller, secretary; John Walker, treasurer; Rev. Wiley Ruttledge, chaplain; and Clay Fisher, sergeant at arms.
Scout
Terry Waisner, 10, a two-year member of Cub Pack 50 and a rising sixth grader at North Albemarle Elementary School, had been awarded the Boyd Holt Memorial Trophy on the basis of his all-around abilities and his achievements in the cub back and outside.
