Pfeiffer men’s lacrosse dominates at Averett

The Pfeiffer University men’s lacrosse team used a dominating first quarter performance and rolled to a convincing 26-3 USA South road win at Averett on Saturday night.

Pfeiffer (6-1, 4-0 USA South) outscored Averett (4-4, 0-3) 10-0 in the first quarter and led 19-1 at halftime.

The Falcons scored the first 14 goals of the game before Averett notched their first goal of the game at 9:07 in the second quarter.

Pfeiffer led 22-2 after the third and added four more in the fourth to take the win.

A total of 12 players scored for Pfeiffer, who ran their winning streak to five consecutive games. Pfeiffer has also won three of their four conference games by 10 goals or more.

Sophomore Quinn Becraft (Huntersville, N.C.) led the way, as he scored seven goals on the game. Senior Jared Nelson (Vestal, N.Y.) supplied nine assists and had three goals on the afternoon to continue his impressive play and to extend his school-record numbers for career assists.

Tucker Hill (Victor, N.Y.) controlled 10 ground balls and scored a pair of goals on the afternoon while winning 14-of-16 faceoffs. Luke Cox (Winston-Salem, N.C.) had a pair of goals, as did graduate student John Allen (Lebanon, Ohio). Allen also had a pair of assists in the win.

Other Falcons who scored included: Trevin King (3), Corey Choberka (2), Chris Alcorn (1), Peter Donahue (1), Nu Kwan Fair (1), Jacob Leone (1), and Brayden Sokolowski (1).
