Two area individuals died in car accident Jan. 1.
Less than three weeks later, friends and a local business have planned a fundraiser to benefit a charity they cared about.
“We have a member of the Chick-fil-A Albemarle family that has a close family connection to these families and the boys were well known and liked by many in our community,” said Lisa Swicegood, marketing director. “With that being said, we wanted to do something to allow the community to honor their memory.”
From 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, 10 percent of all sales at Chick-fil-A in Albemarle will be donated to One7 Ministries in memory of Shadd Little, 21, and Garrison Smith, 19, of Union County.
Little and Smith were killed near Burnsville on their way to duck hunt near Peachland. There were four other passengers in the truck, all related, according to Jody Little, father of Shadd.
Jody Little said One7 Ministries helps children in troubled situations or homes get to a safe home.
He plans to be at Chick-fil-A on Tuesday.
“We just want to thank everyone for the support we’ve got,” he said.
