LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Angels among us

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

There are indeed angels among us.

About a week or so before Thanksgiving, I was on my weekly visit to a local grocery store.

After collecting the items I needed, I proceeded to the checkout line. There was one lady ahead of me and her order was pretty much checked through. She paid the cashier and moved to the end of the checkout aisle and then she turned around and was talking to the cashier.
I thought she had forgotten an item and needed to go back to get something.

She started walking toward me and I asked if she needed something. Her answer was, “No,” and then she said, “I’m going to pay for your order.”

I knew I had hearing loss, so I asked her to repeat. No, I did not misunderstand her. She wanted to pay for my order. At first I refused and then I realized it’s OK to accept such a gift.

While my order was not too big, it was indeed more than $10 or $15 and I knew that lady was my special angel. What a blessing. If you do not believe in angels, read Hebrews 13 in The Bible. I repeat, there are angels among us.

Thank you, sweet lady
