The decision to serve as an elected official should not be made lightly.
To do the job correctly, one needs to, by nature, be a problem solver, a good listener, mediator, champion of causes, and, of course, above reproach. The job is tiresome, stressful and at times thankless, yet many good men and women have chosen to follow the path into public service.
As mayor pro-tem of Statesville, I have had the pleasure of working with such an individual. Martha Sue Hall, without a doubt, is one of the best examples of what I described above as what an elected official to be.
I served with her in leadership roles on the NC League of Municipalities Risk Management Board and the Centralina Council of Governments Board.
First and foremost, she passionately cares about her constituents in Albemarle. She is inquisitive, challenging and decisive. She is a problem solver and knows how to get the job done.
I encourage you all to re-elect Marta Sue Hall as an at-large member of the Albemarle City Council.
I can think of no one better suited for the role.
