The following is by Megan DePasquale, principal of Millingport Elementary School:
Welcome Back Millingport Wildcats!
I am excited to be spending my third year with you as the principal at Millingport Elementary School. I have been working this summer to ensure we are ready for the school to open back up while being able to offer ways for students to learn in a manner that each family feels is best for them.
The pandemic has left us all wondering about a new normal, including what school will look like this fall. Rest assured, the district is working with state guidelines to ensure we safely bring back students, including addressing academic, social, emotional and physical safety needs.
We are currently preparing the school to welcome you back into the building. Some changes you are going to see are desks spaced out with markers for where your desk will need to stay, markers in the hallways for you to keep socially distanced as you come into or leave the building, and hand sanitizing stations in each classroom. Mr. Joe, Mr. Kendall, Mrs. Amber and our teachers have been working all summer long to ensure the building is safe and clean.
We know things will look and be different this year, but we are in this together. What I do know is our staff and families are a community. We will work to solve issues together, though it may not be perfect, we will make it work.
I am proud to be a part of Millingport Elementary School and community because of that.
Please keep checking the Millingport School Facebook and website for information, as well as the Stanly County Schools Facebook and website.
Remember, Millingport Elementary is Where Individuals Learn, Do, Care and Thrive Successfully.
I look forward to seeing or hearing from you soon!
