ECA selects scholarship winners

The Stanly County Extension and Community Association (SCECA) has announced its 2020 Betty Watson Scholarship winners of $1,000 each.
The Betty Watson Scholarship is a memorial scholarship established in 1979 honoring the work of Watson, former Home Economist and Extension Agent. Applicants majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences or related area are given preference when selecting the scholarship winner(s).
Sharon Huggins of Norwood was awarded $1,000 towards furthering her education. She is a graduate of South Stanly High School and UNC-Greensboro and is pursuing a Master’s of Science in Nutrition with a concentration in Public Health from Appalachian State University. She is a Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) teacher at South Stanly High School.
Sara Little, daughter of Darlene Little of Norwood, was
awarded $1,000 towards furthering her education. She is a graduate of South Stanly High School and attends North Carolina State University, majoring in Extension Education with a Youth Leadership Development concentration. Sara hopes to become a 4-H Agent and work with NC Cooperative Extension after graduation.
Jayce Shelton is the daughter of Kristi Hedrick of Norwood and is receiving a $1,000 scholarship. She is a graduate of
South Stanly High School and will attend UNC-Chapel Hill in the fall where she intends to major in Nutrition or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
