Norwood Police Chief James Wilson issued more warnings this week to property owners along Lake Tillery.
In a Facebook post, the Police Department said: “We are urging citizens along the lake to be vigilant around their lake properties and boat houses. We had another incident over the weekend where a boat motor, batteries and gas tank were stolen from a boat house. The victim again believes that the suspect accessed the property by boat from the lake. If you have any information about this incident please contact the Norwood PD.”
In an interview on Wednesday, Wilson further expressed the warning to property owners, saying kayaks have also been stolen this summer.
“It goes to show another reason why it would be nice for our department to have a boat on the water to try and prevent these type of activities,” Wilson said.
The Norwood Town Council recently discussed the possibility of a police presence on the water.
“It’s hard to deter that type of crime when there’s not a large law enforcement presence on our lake,” Wilson said.
