Once again, Stanly County Schools is conducting a superintendent search for that “special” person to lead the school system.

With certainty, there are criteria the person will need to meet for this position.

However, ensuring the person carries the capabilities to help meet the needs of all is so warranted.

As Covid-19, racial bias and both education and economic inequalities have unfolded in the eyes of all in this country, it must be a priority that this person can determinedly help meet the challenges that are true also to Stanly County.

To better serve all students, staff and communities, this person should be well-prepared in principles and truths for fair and equal best practices, as well as wholeheartedly listen to and get to know each community in the county. Outreach to all is a must.

Therefore, it is with profound hope that the next superintendent of SCS is an authentic leader void of politics and is someone who can bridge the gaps for the betterment of all, regardless of race, gender, economic level and religion.

The students, staff and communities of Stanly County deserve nothing less.
