South Stanly men’s basketball opens with win

The South Stanly men’s basketball squad opened Friday night with a 60-53 home non-conference win over the Mount Pleasant Tigers.

Justin Gaddy led South with 22 points including 4-of-4 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.

Jaquez Cooke added 17 points, 12 coming in the second half for the Bulls.

Hunter Sloop led Mount Pleasant (0-1) with 22 points while Brady Duke added 10 points.

South Stanly travels Monday night to Southwestern Randolph and returns home to host Montgomery Central Dec. 4.
