A motorcyclist died after he crashed into the back of a truck Wednesday night.
The N.C. Highway Patrol reports Aaron Paige, 21, of Stanfield was driving a 2012 Yamaha on Renee Ford Road around 6 p.m. when he struck the back of a 2004 Dodge Ram driven by Wade Turner, 23, of Stanfield.
Turner was waiting on traffic before he could turn left onto David Lane, Sgt. D.B. Pope said.
Pope said Troopers were told by a witness of what may have led to the crash.
“They remember him waving at another bike and then [the witness] heard the Yamaha accelerate and then he heard the crash,” Pope said. “The bike failed to reduce its speed.”
Pope said Turner said he never heard the motorcycle, but felt its impact as he was making the turn onto David Lane.
