A former board member has been named interim president and CEO of the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce.
Sandy Selvy-Mullis will serve in an interim capacity for the remainder of 2019 while a formal job search is conducted for the position.
“I’m very excited to be involved in the Stanly County community again,” Selvy-Mullis said.
Kathy Almond resigned from the post in August after six years of leading the Chamber.
“We at the Chamber are delighted to have someone of Sandy’s experience, professionalism and energy working for our Chamber of Commerce,” Chamber Board Chairman George Crooker said. “We expect wonderful things in the near future.”
Selvy-Mullis was publisher of The Stanly News & Press for more than 11 years before resigning from the position last fall.
Through that position, she became involved in the Albemarle Rotary Club, Albemarle Downtown Business Association, United Way of Stanly County, GHA Autism Supports and other organizations as a board member or collaborator on projects.
Prior to working in the newspaper industry, she had experience in retail management.
