Stanly County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of three people found dead Thursday morning in a Canton Road home.
After responding to a scene about a possible prowler knocking on the door of a home at 28641 Canton Road, deputies found a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Capt. Chris Huneycutt said.
“Officers made entry for safety purposes and found three deceased individuals in the home,” he said.
Donnie Dewey Furr, 74, Elaine Burleson Furr, 76, and Paula Jo Furr, 54, were found dead. Huneycutt said the shooting happened in the home. The three individuals and the fourth who survived are related, he added.
“We do not think there is anyone at large that would be a threat to the public,” Huneycutt said. “We are not seeking any suspects at this time.”
The 24-year-old man was transported to Carolinas Medical Center – Northeast, where he underwent surgery. Huneycutt said he is in stable condition. He would not reveal the man’s name as the investigation continues.
