County commissioner charged with DWI on Lake Tillery

Stanly County Commissioner Ashley Morgan was charged with a misdemeanor BWI on Lake Tillery Saturday.

“The case is still under investigation,” N.C. Wildlife Officer Branden Jones said.
“I trust the legal system,” Morgan said. “Hopefully it’ll work it’s way out.”
Morgan has served on the Stanly County Board of Commissioners since December 2016. Currently vice chairman, Morgan serves on the Airport Authority and Water & Sewer Authority.
A court date has been set for Aug. 6.
