North Stanly claims YVC tourney title

- (Contributed) The North Stanly Comets made it a clean sweep Friday of the YVC regular-season and tournament titles.
Patience at the plate late in Friday’s Yadkin Valley Conference tournament finals led top-seeded North Stanly to a 5-2 win over Uwharrie Charter.
In the bottom of the fourth, Carson Lowder tied the game for the Comets with a solo inside the park home run.
North scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth drawing five walks scoring on two passed balls and a wild pitch.
The Comets will host either No. 15 Chatham Charter (8-7) or No. 18 North Stokes (12-11) on Friday in the state playoffs.
