Albemarle police officers are investigating two robberies.
Shortly before midnight, police say a person described as a black male, small to
medium height and build, wearing a gray tank top and a green hoodie, entered the
Speedway Convenience Store, 1702 U.S. Highway 52 N., pointing a handgun at the
clerk demanding money. The clerk gave the robber cash and he exited the store, police said. No one was hurt during the incident.
Around an hour and a half later, while still investigating the robbery at Speedway, a person
described as a skinny male wearing acid-washed blue jeans, a blue coat with a hood, white
gloves and a toboggan that was pulled over his face walked into the Alco No. 20, 1973 E. Main St., Albemarle, with a small caliber handgun and demanded money.
The clerk gave the robber the cash, and the robber exited the store. No one was hurt during the incident.
Police are working to gather video footage from each store.
Extra patrols have been set up around the areas.
