James Riley Almond

James Riley Almond, 29, of Locust passed away Monday, March 4, 2019.
His funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the First Baptist Church in Locust with Rev. Kenny Wallace and Dr. Tommy Ross officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Born Oct. 3, 1989 in Cabarrus County, James was the son of Troy Almond of Locust and Kaylene Harwood (Tracy Burgess) of Mt. Gilead.
James was a graduate of West Stanly High School and worked as a technician with Almond Refrigeration.
James was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and riding the Uwharrie trails with family and friends.
He loved his family deeply and cherished his many friendships.
In addition to his parents, James is survived by his son, Riley Almond; sister, Amanda Jordan (Matt) of Locust; nephew, Jase Jordan; niece, Raelyn Jordan; stepbrothers, Scotty and Travis Burgess; grandparents, Marjo Almond, Tim Harwood, Maxine and Ray Underwood; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
James is preceded in death by grandparents, Mary Elizabeth Harwood and Roy James Almond.
