Donald Gray Hardister, 87, of Albemarle passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 in CHS-Northeast in Concord.
His funeral service will be 2 PM Thursday, February 28, 2019 in Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Burris and Rev. Delane Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care from 6 until 8 PM.
Born May 2, 1931, he was the son of the late R. C. Hardister and Amanda Pauline Hoover Hardister.
He was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mills and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Mr. Hardister enjoyed raising livestock, especially goats, and he was a skilled upholsterer, known statewide for his skill and excellent work.
Mr. Hardister is survived by his wife Gladys Irene Saunders Hardister of the home, son Donald Gray Hardister Jr. (Pam) of Charlotte, brothers Robert Hardister of Albemarle and Jack Hardister of New London, sisters Lucille Maner of Norwood, Laura Brown of Albemarle, Shirley Hardister of Charlotte, Sue Fraley of New London, and Linda Justice of Indian Trail, granddaughter Tracey Millar (Brett) of Fletcher, NC, and 4 great-grandchildren: Angela, Kay, Shelby, and Dustin.
A grandson Donald Gray Hardister III and a sister Frances “Sister” Taylor preceded him in death.
