Joe Nelson Calloway, 80, of Albemarle passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 in Albemarle.
His funeral service will be 2PM Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Bethany United Methodist Church in Albemarle with Rev. Ben Sloan, Pastor Phillip Martin, and Rev. Dan Gaddy officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle.
Born July 10, 1938 in Stanly County, NC he was the son of the late Nelson Bryant Calloway and Eva Mae Holt Calloway.
He was the owner of Calloway and Associates Insurance Agency. After his retirement he was the Safety Director with JT Russell and Sons. He was also very active working with his scrap metal business.
Mr. Calloway is survived by his wife Susan Roberta Kepley Calloway of the home, one son; Joey Calloway (Teresa) of New London, NC, step son Michael Carrickhoff (Rachel) of Kannapolis, NC, two daughters; Tammy C. Tucker (Kenneth) of Albemarle, NC and Amy C. Yow (David) of Stanfield, NC, step daughter Michele Timberlake (Lee) of Oakboro, NC, two brothers; Jim Calloway (Rhoda) of Salisbury, NC, Red Calloway of Albemarle, NC, sister-in-law Kat Calloway of Albemarle, NC, grandchildren; Chris Tucker, Melren Cauble, Kristen Martin, Dustin Calloway, Matthew Calloway, Taylor Heely, Austyn Yow, Bailey Yow, Anslee Yow, Callee Yow, Talen Hinesley, Tendel Timberlake, Maya and Evan Carrickhoff, and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by two brothers; Bud Calloway and Bob Calloway.
