Carolyn M. Lefler

Carolyn M. Lefler of Albemarle, NC, formerly of Oak Island, NC, died on November 21, 2018 at The Taylor House, 319 Palmer Street, Albemarle, NC. The Taylor House was her home for the past 2 years and the family wishes to thank the wonderful staff for the loving care she received.
Mrs. Lefler, age 92, was born in Albemarle, NC to the late Terry Mills and wife, Essie Mae Purser Mills (Palmer) on October 28, 1926.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles B. Lefler in 2009, her brothers Terry Mills II, J. Lee Mills and Marcus H. Mills and by her granddaughter, Laura Cauble Mauldin.
Mrs. Lefler was a member of First Lutheran Church, Albemarle, NC, where during her working years she served as parish secretary, financial secretary and youth director for the church. Prior to this she was employed as a certified dental assistant.
In 1979 due to health issues she and her husband retired to Oak Island, NC where she was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Southport, NC. For more than 25 years she held a weekly Bible Study group in her home. Many of her closest and dearest friends still reside on Oak Island and in Southport.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol L. Cauble and husband Mickey L. Cauble; a son, Charles B. Lefler, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth (Betsy) Lefler; three grandchildren, Carla Cauble Moore, John M. Cauble and Charles Matthew Lefler; great-grandchildren Will Moore, Mary Elizabeth Moore, Charles Landon Moore, Carlynn Cauble; and Chloe Mauldin; Xander, Cyrus, Hunter and Jay Cauble and great-great-granddaughter Serena Mauldin; sisters-in-law Joyce Mills, Gladys Mills, Hazel Lefler and Joanna Lefler Carpenter and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mrs. Lefler was held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at First Lutheran Church, Albemarle, NC.
