Mary Kate “Katie” Turner Severin

Katie Turner, age 27, of Angier, NC went to Heaven on November 12, 2018 following an automobile accident.
Katie was born in Stanly County on April 24, 1991, the daughter of Frank and Debbie Turner of Albemarle.
A quiet and humble person, Katie had a gift for turning the simplest items into beautiful works of art. Her passion was in making handmade gifts for her family and friends. Katie had a deep love for God, and she was not ashamed to live out her faith.
Katie graduated from West Stanly High School as Salutatorian in 2009. She graduated from Campbell University in 2013 with a bachelors degree in Mathematics, and from Appalachian State University in 2015 with a masters degree in Mathematics. Katie taught math at Appalachian State University until May of 2017.
Katie is survived by her husband and best friend, Ben Severin. They met while both attending Campbell University and were married July 12, 2014. She is also survived by her parents, her sister Dana Turner of Boston, MA, and her grandmother, Sue Turner of New London.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8 PM at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle. A service to celebrate Katie’s life will be on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11 AM at Plyler Baptist Church in Albemarle where she will lie in state for 1 hour prior to the hour of the service. Rev. Brian Franklin and Rev. Charles Hensley will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
