Fred Leon Dunagan, 84, of Oakboro, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his home.
His funeral service will be Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care Chapel of Locust. Burial will follow at Oakboro Cemetery in Oakboro, NC. The family will receive friends from 1PM to 2PM prior to the service.
Born July 22, 1934 in Narrows, VA, Mr. Dunagan was the son of the late William Rexford Dunagan and Ethel Wall Dunagan.
Fred attended West Oakboro Baptist Church and was a retired area manager with BP Oil Co. in Charlotte, NC. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean War.
Mr. Dunagan is survived by his wife of 49+ years Mary Elizabeth Spencer Dunagan of the home; sons Ronald Dunagan of Woodstock, GA, Terry Dunagan of Albemarle, NC, Rodney Dunagan of Valley, AL, William Dunagan of Harrisburg, PA; daughters Lisa Kaiser of Charlotte, NC, and Debbie Aburto of Piedras Negras, Mexico. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie at 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
