A motorist crashed into the front steps of the First Presbyterian Church of Norwood.

Julia L. Dawes, 66, rammed into the church steps at 3:30 p.m. Monday in a 2002 Ford sport utility vehicle. Dawes told Norwood police she had trouble turning the SUV when she hit the church’s entrance off South Main Street, according to police Chief James Wilson.

Police estimate damages to the steps to be about $3,000 and about $4,000 to the vehicle.
