Nevin McKinley Huneycutt, Sr. 79, of Oakboro, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Huneycutt was born December 18, 1938 in Stanly County to the late Walter McKinley Huneycutt and the late Malinda Burris Huneycutt.
Nevin was a farmer and was chosen as “Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year.”
He served in several capacities as an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Additionally, he worked as a volunteer fireman with the Oakboro Fire Department. Nevin coached all kinds of athletic softball teams.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, October 31, 2018, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle The funeral service will be on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 3:00PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 17236 Frog Pond Road in Oakboro officiated by Dr. Wayne Bennett, Rev. Tab Whitley, and Rev. Trent Drye. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include wife of 59 years, Patricia Lambert Huneycutt; daughter, Gayleen Morris and husband Rick of Oakboro; son Nevin Huneycutt, Jr. and wife Gina; grandchildren, McKinley Taylor, Bridger Burgess, and Bailey Huneycutt; great grandchildren, Addison Eury and Skye Taylor; special grandson, Brian Taylor; sisters, Noveleen Hatley and husband Roscoe and Norma Jean Earley; sister-in-law, Judy Meggs all of Oakboro.
