Letter: My pick for judge
Published 10:40 am Thursday, October 25, 2018
Hats off to my friends on the Executive Committee of the Stanly County Republican Party for choosing not to endorse either Republican candidate for the third seat on the bench of the newly created 20A Judicial District serving Stanly and Montgomery counties.
As an Executive Committee member of the Randolph County Republican Party, I fully understand the pressure to endorse the Republican Chief Assistant District Attorney, but was pleased to see that after thoroughly interviewing both qualified Republican candidates the committee chose to take the high road and let the people do their own homework before making choices for whom they believe will be the best person to fill this vital judicial seat.
With that said, I do not know Mr. Vang and only have knowledge of his qualifications through my research.
However, I have known Beverly Spencer for quite some time and have always been impressed with this intelligent lady who has exceeded all the expectations of her humble beginnings and proven herself in the courtroom by working harder and smarter every day.
I encourage my friends in this new district to reach out as I did to district court judges in any court of law where Mrs. Spencer has practiced.
You will find that she is held in high esteem and respected for her knowledge of the law, preparation and compassion for victims and law enforcement.
Thank you for voting for Beverly Spencer for District Court Judge.
