Two men suffered gunshot wounds in what police suspect to be a drive-by shooting.
Albemarle police responded to reports of shots fired on Lundix Street at 7:50 p.m. Sunday. Police were then directed to the hospital where they found Marcell JaQuan Watkins, 28, and Tristan Edward Crump, 32, with gunshot wounds, according to Capt. David Dulin.
Watkins had a bullet wound to the side and Crump a gunshot to the foot.
Police proceeded to interview about 20 people both at the scene and hospital, none who claimed to witness the shooting. Evidence at the scene suggests the shooting could have been the result of a drive-by shooting, Dulin said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Police are asking the public for help with identifying the shooter as well as the person who took the victims to the hospital. Tipsters can call the Albemarle Police Department at 704-984-9500, or leave an anonymous message at 704-984-9511.
