Loretta Maxine Whitley Lambert Samples, 86, of Locust, N.C., passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Stanly Manor.
Her funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2018 in the Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care Chapel of Albemarle with Rev. Wally Gilmer and Rev. Jeremy Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in the Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. prior to the service.
Loretta was born August 15, 1932 in Stanly County, N.C. and was the daughter of the late Leonard Lloyd Whitley and Leola Sasser Whitley.
She attended Stanly Community College, receiving her CNA, which she used to serve many families. Loretta was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mill Company. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church, Locust, N.C.
Mrs. Samples was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil Lambert, Jr., and second husband, Hubert Samples.
She is survived by a son, Virgil Lambert, III. (Kelly Crayton Lambert) of Locust, N.C.; brother Bruce Whitley of Cramerton, N.C.; sister Anita Mauney of Lowell, N.C.; two granddaughters, Candice Mullins (Jeremy) of Ft. Belvoir, VA, Deidre Blevins (Scott) of Midland, NC; and a grandson, Joshua Gardner (Matthew Cox) of Greenville, N.C.; and four great-grandchildren, Boston Mullins, Canaan Mulllins, Ethan Mullins and Brady Blevins.
Loretta was also preceded in death by a sister, Lavonne Averill, and a brother, Darrell Whitley.
