The 29th induction ceremony for the Stanly County Sports Hall of Fame will take be at 6 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Family Education Center at Atrium Health Care in Albemarle, and tickets to the event are on sale.

Inductees for 2018 include Kent Montgomery, a former Albemarle High School, Wingate College, and N.C. State University baseball star and civic leader in Wilson, NC; and Elbert L. “Whit” Whitley, a standout athlete at Albemarle High School and Duke University, and civic leader in Albemarle.

Master of Ceremonies for the event will be Bob Harris, former play-by-play announcer for Duke University, and the keynote speaker will be Wes Chesson, former Duke, Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver.

Tickets are $35, and include admission to the ceremony and the reception afterward.

Tickets may be purchased at Albemarle Parks and Recreation, Locust Parks and Recreation, Oakboro Parks and Recreation, Mabry Insurance or from any member of the Hall of Fame Committee.
