Richard Lee “Dick” Franklin, 82, of Norwood died peacefully surrounded by his loving family Saturday evening, July 14, 2018 at his home.
A service to celebrate Dick’s Life will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood. Rev. Mike Lisk, Rev. Johnny Leslie, Rev. Jeremy Blake and Rev. Bryan Burris will officiate. Full military honors will follow the service by the Stanly County DAV. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Dick was born September 2, 1935 in Radford, Virginia to the late Glenn Alexander and Thelma Walker Franklin. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War and a member of Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was retired owner of Dick’s Muffler Shop in Norwood for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Shepherd Franklin of the home; two sons, Danny Franklin and Darlene, Tim Franklin and Tiffany and one daughter, Kimberly Loflin, and Terry Chriswisser, all of Norwood; three grandchildren, Daniel Franklin Jr., Adam Loflin and Tanner Franklin; one great-granddaughter, Raya Loflin.
