Tomato Palooza will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday to celebrate and show off the best of the best tomatoes. The event is open to all, tasters and growers.
The free event, conducted at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center, will include tomato tasting, contests (flavor, most unique, largest and best dish), and a tomato growing seminar.
Anyone wishing to enter tomatoes can bring at least two pounds (slicers) or three pints (grape and cherry) from 9 a.m.-noon Thursday. Individuals must know the variety and any other information worth sharing.
Individuals wishing to submit a prepared tomato dish have until 5 p.m. Thursday and must share the recipe and name of the dish.
