Becky Yvonne Bowers, 68, of Albemarle, passed away Monday, June 11, 2018 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Ms. Bowers was born March 4, 1950 to the late Floyd Coolidge “Coot” and Mary Louise Bowers.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Danny Ray “Pete” Bowers.
Becky was a longtime, faithful member of her church and spent many hours volunteering at Stanly Community Christian Ministry (Clothing Closet). She retired from Millingport School after several years of service to our youth.
Becky loved many things in her life like spending time with her family and playing Bingo, but she will best be remembered as a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Faith Freewill Baptist Church in New London, officiated by Rev. Cecil L Tucker, Rev. Wayne Eudy and Rev. Terry Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include: son, Darrell Preston Greer; granddaughter, Christy Renee Akers, grandson, Christopher Darrell Greer, granddaughter, Madison Paige Greer, great-grandson, Jaden Andrew Harrison, Kayden Ray Akers; sister, Jo B Starnes; and her special nieces and nephews.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Bowers family.
