Dryer at plant going to surplus on 4-3 vote

Monday, March 4, 2013 — City Council members narrowly approved a consideration for a biosolids dryer at the wastewater treatment plant to be sold as surplus property Monday night.

Some council members preferred that they wait to take action until a study is completed by Municipal Engineering before making the dryer surplus property, available for sale through bids.

The consideration was approved by a vote of 4-3, with councilmembers Martha Sue Hall, Ronnie Michael and Dexter Townsend voting against the proposal.

For comments from Director of Public Utilities Ellen Huntley and city council members, see Tuesday's edition of The Stanly News & Press.
