Board sets work session schedule

Thursday, January 10, 2013 — Stanly County Board of Education has called a board member session for the third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. for the purposes of having a work session.

Board member Mitzie Almond expressed her concern that a meeting at 7 p.m would not allow them enough time to make it through all of the issues in the work session.

“We’re not going to have it all in one session,” Chairman Melvin Poole said.

Superintendent Dr. Terry Griffin is to make the agenda for the work session. School board members are to contact Griffin in regards to content to be added to the agenda for discussion in the work session.

During the session, the board will work on completing an updated profile of the school system.

The profile will show the facilities, staff and average daily membership within the school system.

“This will lead to the development of a new strategic plan,” Griffin said.

The new strategic plan is to be implemented by July 1 and should carry through the next 10-15 years, according to Griffin.
