Monday, March 18, 2013 —
Despite the dreary weather Oakboro had a full house of commissioners on Monday’s regular meeting, with Mayor Danny Long and Commissioner Ted Parker present after their absence for personal reasons in February.
Melissa Barrier, an educator at Oakboro Elementary School, appeared before the town council during open forum, requesting that the town donate money to the Oakboro student appreciation field day.
“In recent times the town has been instrumental in trying to support the student appreciation field day,” said Barrier.
She explained that in years past the town had donated money. However, Barrier did recognize that the town is working under budget constraints and noted that any help would be greatly appreciated.

We are Uniquely Made
Earlier this week the seniors at our school had one final hurdle to jump before graduation. They had to present their senior projects before panels of community members. Each room had four adults: the moderator and the three judges. You can be sure the students were quite nervous, but they usually do a great job. If they have practiced and prepared then they should experience success.
