Tuesday, March 9, 2010 — Through the quick response and coordination of regional law enforcement agencies, Jason Michael Hilton, 30, is in the Stanly County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.
Hilton robbed the First Bank in Richfield at knife-point on Monday just prior to noon.
Hilton wore sunglasses, a toboggan and gloves. Although bank personnel were shaken up, no one was injured during the heist.
Stanly County Sheriff Rick Burris said his office received the call at 11:26 a.m. and both his office and Misenheimer Police responded to the call.
“I’ll have to give our communication department a big complement in this. They quickly got the word out to Davidson and surrounding counties. A Davidson deputy spotted Hilton’s vehicle and apprehended him,” Burris said.
Hilton, who resides at 264 A.R. Morris Road in Denton, was held by Davidson County and Denton Police until picked up by Stanly County Sheriff’s deputies.
An undisclosed amount of money was recovered and Hilton is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and with possession of a weapon by a felon. He has a court date of April 5.
