Tuesday, June 30, 2009 — Stanly County has another sex offender in the Stanly County Jail ... and this time, there are 30 felony counts.
Charged with the 30 felonies is Odell Junior Owens of 38732 Smoke Ridge Road, New London.
Owens, 35, was arrested on Monday and charged with five counts each of the following six sex offenses: first degree forcible rape, first degree sexual offense, incest, child abuse sexual act, crime against nature and indecent liberties with a child.
Sheriff Rick Burris said that his office was notified by Stanly Regional Medical Center and the Butterfly House after the examination of the victim. The crimes were committed over a five-month time period at Owens’ home against a single victim, an under-15 female.
Owens is being held in Stanly County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond and has a first court appearance on Aug. 3.
