Former NFL star to speak at AHS

Monday, November 19, 2012 — Tony Collins will be appearing as a guest speaker at Albemarle High School during the day for the entire student body on Monday at 9 a.m.

Collins has performed on the biggest stage imaginable for a football player: the Super Bowl. He played in the NFL with the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins. His career was highlighted by a trip to Super Bowl XX.

The former NFL and Arena Football star spent his college career at East Carolina University until selected in the second round of the NFL Draft in 1981.

Although he did not complete his undergraduate degree during his initial time at East Carolina, realizing the value of an education, he has since gone back to school to pursue his bachelor’s degree in communications. He will share with students the importance of how academics can provide a basis for a successful future.

Collins will continue to share with Albemarle students and their parents on Monday evening at 6 p.m about how to play at the “next level” and how to get started with the recruiting process.
