Sunday, February 7, 2010 — The South Stanly Rebel Bulls earned their second win of a tough season Thursday night at Chatham Central.
Cruze Long led South Stanly with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Daryl Davis had a strong game with nine points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Long had 12 points in the first half as his rebounding and buckets in the paint kept the game close.
A switch in defense in the fourth quarter to a 1-3-1 zone got the Bears out of rhythm offensively, according to head coach Sean Whitley.
With three minutes left in the game, Grayson Short tied it on a three-pointer, then Davis and Cody Melton were able to get big buckets down the stretch by taking the ball to the basket.
“I was proud of our effort and energy in the second half. We rebounded well down the stretch,” Whitley said.
Friday’s games at South Davidson were postponed and rescheduled to Feb. 16.
South will host North Moore on Tuesday night.
