The North girls earned their fifth straight win to stay a half-game behind Berry Academy in the standings.

Tyana Bryant and Holli Chandler each scored 17 points to lead the Comets (19-2, 11-2 RRC).

Chandler nearly missed a double-double with nine assist while Bryant added five steals to her point total.

Symphonie Richardson also just missed a double-double night for North with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Kinya Adams did get a double-double Friday night for Forest Hills (7-13, 6-8) with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

North outrebounded the Jackets 28-22 and had 20 steals as well as eight made three-pointers, with Chandler leading the way with three makes.

Forest Hills rallied from an eight-point deficit to take a two-point halftime lead 31-29, but North adjusted their pressure in the second half and the Comets outscored the Jackets 45-19.

“We turned the ball over and made bad decisions in the second quarter. We got some turnovers in the second half and shot much better, cutting down on our own turnovers. Forest Hills is much improved and very athletic,” North Stanly head coach Greg Speight said.

North Stanly will travel to West Stanly on Monday night and then host two games Tuesday (Union Academy) and Friday (Cuthbertson).
