Bob’s Bash tournament raises $80,000

Friday, April 20, 2012 — Piney Point Golf Club hosted 164 golfers on April 13 for the Seventh Annual Bob’s Bash golf tournament.

The Isenhour family with the help of many volunteers put on the tournament which raised almost $80,000.

The event raises money for the Robert Isenhour Community Assistance Fund and is administered through the First United Methodist Church in Norwood. The fund provides help to people in great need in the local community.

Bob Isenhour provided the inspiration for this event and his legacy lives on through the acts of charity this fund provides to those in need.

The golf course was in great condition and the weather was tremendous after a cold start for the early morning shotgun.

History was also made  during the event when Charlotte’s Ray Filz stepped up for his team’s shot on the 480-yard Par-5 Hole No. 2 and knocked the shot into the cup for a double eagle.

The format for the golf tournament was captain’s choice of the foursome.  The tournament had two shotguns with each being a separate event. The two shotguns had gross and net winners. Each team was given a number based on a handicap formula that was used to level the playing field as their team handicap.  The number was subtracted from their gross score to give them a net score.
