‘Dogs win at South; North, West downed

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 — Four Stanly teams had matches Monday night in the final week of the regular season for high school soccer, with the playoffs scheduled to start on Halloween night next Wednesday.

Albemarle 6

South Stanly 2

After a three-game winning streak midway through their 2012 season, the Albe-marle Bulldogs had suffered two straight losses in October, a 2-0 loss to fifth-ranked East Montgomery and a non-conference loss to Mount Pleasant 4-1.

The Bulldogs responded on the road at South Stanly Monday night for a 6-2 win over South Stanly.

Julio Cisneros had a hat trick to lead the Bulldogs (7-5, 5-3 YVC) while Anthony Hinson scored twice and Jaylan Potter added a goal.

Bernardo Granados had a goal in the loss for the Rebel Bulls.

Albemarle hosts Gray Stone at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

Other Results

The West Stanly Colts fell to 4-11 overall and 3-9 in the Rocky River Conf-erence with a 5-0 loss at Cuthbertson.

North Stanly lost at home to Forest Hills 8-1 to fall to 0-15 this season.

In the final match of the regular season for both teams, the Comets will host West Stanly at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
