Knights’ Girls Win
Twenty-one cross country teams lined up Saturday morning to battle it out at the Cannon Invitational.
Two of North Carolina's top 1A girl teams, Gray Stone Day and Lake Norman Charter, were racing against larger schools including Providence, Marvin Ridge and Charlotte Latin.
Charlotte Latin took an early lead by taking second, third and fourth place. Janna Featherstone and Illa Jones put the Knights on the board when they crossed the finish line in ninth and 10th place, respectively. Featherstone finished in 21:53 with Jones a split second behind her in 21:54. Hunter Latimer, with scrapes on her legs from two falls, finished in 22:54 in 26th place. Caroline McLeod (23:01) and Amber Watkins (23:03) rounded out the scoring by placing 30th and 31st.
