CCS sweeps

Wednesday, January 9, 2013 — The Carolina Christian boys and girls’ basketball teams swept a road doubleheader Friday night at First Assembly Christian.

In the girls’ matchup, CCS post player Chloe Burris led with 18 points and 12 rebounds in a 74-19 win, with Reily Burris and Elizabeth Franklin scored 12 and 11, respectively in the Lions’ (10-0) win.

The boys’ game saw the Lions improve to 8-4 with a 78-43 win. Steven Carr led with 20 points, with Will Player adding 14 and Luke Moore and Troy George with 12 points each.

    In playoff games on Thursday evening, West Stanly softball hosted Pisgah in the opening game of the 2A Western Regional Series, while South Stanly baseball traveled to Hendersonville for the opening game of the 1A Western Regional Series.
