In high school girls’ soccer games on Monday, the Gray Stone Knights found a tough task in their road match at South Stanly. North Stanly went on the road to Cuthbertson, and West Stanly hosted Central Academy.

South Stanly 0
The Knights took the field at South Stanly on a gray, windy Monday evening looking for their fourth straight victory in as many matches this season.
South Stanly came in with a 1-1 record overall and in conference play, having opened with a 9-0 loss to East Montgomery but winning 2-1 at North Moore.
South’s defense held the Gray Stone offense scoreless in the first half, but the Knights broke through for two goals in the second half and went on to a 3-0 shutout win.
Cuthbertson 9
North Stanly 0
The Comets fell to 0-2 overall and in Rocky River Conference play with a 9-0 loss at Cuthbertson. The Cavs are the No. 2-ranked 2A team in the state according to the website eurosportscoreboard.com.
North Stanly’s first match of the season was last Wednesday, when the Comets lost at home to Piedmont 9-0.
Central Academy 3
West Stanly 2
The Colts fell to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the RRC with a 3-2 home loss to Central Academy.
West had previously won 3-2 over Anson County and lost to Monroe 2-0.
