The Stanly teams playing in the Yadkin Valley Conference entered the final week of the regular season with home games on Tuesday night.
Albemarle was at home against Chatham Central, Gray Stone hosted North Moore and South Stanly took on South Davidson.

In local playoff games on Friday, South Stanly hosted Albemarle in a third-round 1A baseball playoff matchup, while West Stanly hosted Piedmont in the 2A softball third-round and Gray Stone traveled to Chatham Central for a 1A third-round softball game.

At Friday’s second-round playoff game at Union Academy, the Gray Stone Knights girls’ soccer team continued a trend that had helped them to win 17 straight games this season: playing stellar defense and limiting teams to few scoring chances.
