Sunday, March 14,2010 — The West Stanly softball team continued their strong start in the 2010 season with a 7-3 road win over former conference rival Mount Pleasant.
Emily B. Huneycutt struck out 10 batters and got the complete-game victory for West Stanly (3-0).
Brittany Beatty, Sarah Mauldin and Emily D. Huneycutt had two hits and an RBI each to lead the offense for the Colts.
After Mt. Pleasant took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first innings, the Colts responded with runs in the next three half-innings and led 7-1 going into the bottom of the fourth.
Thursday’s scheduled game with non-conference opponent West Montgomery was postponed and has not been rescheduled as of press time.
West Stanly takes on Albemarle at Rock Creek Park on Monday.
