Thursday, March 11, 2010 — The Albemarle men’s tennis team improved to 2-0 overall with a non-conference win over a tough Cuthbertson squad 6-2.
D.J. Guenther and Daniel Owens lost their singles’ matches, but the Bulldogs would lead 4-2 after singles play with wins from Steven Edwards (8-6) and 8-2 victories from Cameron Skidmore, Caleb Jones and Joel Morton.
Rain stopped the #1 doubles’ match but Albemarle had won the match with 8-2 wins at the #2 and #3 doubles matchups.
“Weather has made practice difficult. It’s good to get a couple of early wins, The young guys at the bottom of the lineup have been terrific,” Albemarle head coach Gary Moran said.
Albemarle hosts Gray Stone today at 4:30 p.m at Chuck Morehead Park.
