The South Stanly wrestling team took on Yadkin Valley Conference opponents North Moore and West Montgomery on Wednesday evening at home.
South posted wins over both the Warriors and the Mustangs in the tri-match.
South Stanly vs. North Moore
The overall team score in the matchup between the Rebel Bulls and the Mustangs went to South Stanly 63-15.
In the 113-pound matchup, South’s Christian Honeycutt earned a pinfall victory in 1:44 seconds over North Moore’s Chris Renzi.
Patrick Cruz of South Stanly gave the Bulls a pinfall win at 120 pounds in a time of just 31 seconds over Mustang Chase Richardson.
In the 138-pound match, South Stanly’s Dakota Lewellen pinned Ethan Morrison with just two seconds left in the match.
Jordan Crowell won by decision for the Bulls at 145 pounds in a 4-2 win over Logan Stancil.
South got pinfall victories in the next three weight classes with Montrell Brewer (152), Freddy Vinces (160) and Sawyer Bartlett. Each fall came within the first two-minute period of their respective matches.
South earned forfeit wins from Cody Shields (106), Jareth Baldwin (195), Brandon Lowery (220) and Jonathan Beachum (285).
South Stanly vs. West Mont.
The Bulls earned the overall win with seven forfeit wins over the Warriors.
Freddy Vences earned a pinfall win on the mat for the Bulls at 160 pounds, pinning Warrior wrestler Allen Morrill in a time of 2:09.
In the 220-pound matchup, South’s Jonathan Beachum pinned West Montgomery’s Antwon Allen in 54 seconds.
At 106 pounds, Cody Shields lost a close decision 3-2 to West Montgomery’s Chris Pipkin.
Dakota Lewellen was pinned at 138 pounds by West’s Kitttapong Phothisane, and Jordan Crowell suffered a pinfall loss for the Bulls at 145 pounds in a time of 1:04 to Matthew Harkins.
