Tuesday, December 30, 2008 — Stanly County Habitat for Humanity will be raffling off a car and all proceeds will go to their next build.
The 2008 Chevrolet Impala LS from Friendly Chevrolet and Buick in Troy will be given away at noon on Jan. 31 to a lucky winner.
All funds raised will go to the Faith Works Build in Oakboro, Stanly County Habitat’s 37th build since they began in 1988.
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will be coordinating the build in 2009.
The program car has less than 7,000 miles on it and it’s retail price is $23,065. It is a silverstone metallic color with gray cloth interior.
The vehicle is also XM satellite radio and OnStar equipped. There are power seats and windows as well as radio, CD and MP3 capabilities.
Those interested in participating can purchase a raffle ticket for $25 until all 1,500 tickets have been sold.
“We are looking forward to the partnership with Pleasant Grove and coordinating the whole build itself,” Executive Director Cemita Gibbs said.
“Hopefully this will help bring the community together in the South Oakboro area.”
Habitat purchased land from the South Oakboro Association and together, they plan to help clean up the area.
Gibbs said they plan to develop approximately seven houses in the development.
No family has been named at this point.
